David A. Gomes is UMass Dartmouth’s Chief Diversity Officer/Title IX Coordinator. In collaboration with partners from across the campus community, David directs the University’s efforts in identifying, analyzing, and eliminating obstacles to diversity and inclusion efforts at UMass Dartmouth. This effort includes promoting equity across campus, developing strategies to increase the recruitment and retention of underrepresented student, faculty, and staff populations, and programming initiatives that support a welcoming environment for all.

David serves as the co-chair of the University’s Diversity Council as well as the Black History 4 Season Council. He is the advisor to the House of Deliberations, co-advisor to the NAACP College Chapter and former advisor to the Student Government Association. He is as also an adjunct professor at UMass School of Law where he teaches Employment Law and Employment Discrimination. David is a member of the Board of Trustees for the New Bedford Whaling Museum and the Head of Legal Redress for the NAACP New Bedford Chapter.

A native of New Bedford, David earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Boston College and his Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.
