United Way of Greater New Bedford brings together volunteers, community leaders and corporate partners to invest in community needs and achieve positive results. From hunger and homelessness to health care and education, the United Way of Greater New Bedford continuously works to identify our region’s most urgent needs and brings together local resources to find answers. For the United Way, building a stronger community is what matters.

At United Way, we are able to achieve lasting results in a number of ways. First, we provide funding to 28 local health and human service agencies. Through the Hunger Commission of Southeastern Massachusetts we supply food to food pantries and soup kitchens in Bristol County, while our Community Building Mini-Grants program provides funding and skill-building opportunities to all-volunteer, grassroots groups. In addition, we support numerous other local initiatives aimed at strengthening our community.

We serve the city of New Bedford and the towns of Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Freetown, Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester and Wareham. Last year, one in four residents in those communities was helped by a United Way funded agency.
