Summer Fund
For more than a decade, United Way’s Summer Fund has provided “camperships” to local children who face financial obstacles or physical disabilities so that they can attend summer camps and enrichment programs. In 2007, with the help of Chairman Senator Mark Montigny, the program raised $29,422.
A total of 15 camps and summer programs applied for funding this year. Decisions were made based on applications, final reports and 2006 site visits.
Thanks to generous support from the Island Foundation and the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts - Acushnet Foundation Fund, as well as gifts from area businesses and private donors, Summer Fund continues to provide these children with a positive, structured experience during the summer months.
