Schwartz Center – Kent’s Story
Success Story

Kent’s Story

Kent is a 20 years old and currently resides at a medical residential program in New Bedford. Kent requires the use of a respirator 24 hours a day and comes to the Schwartz Center accompanied by a private duty nurse since he has a tracheotomy and respirator. He currently uses a Dynavox electronic communication device to not only communicate his needs, but also to converse and do his academic work. At this time he participates in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and MCAS process. If Kent did not attend our school, he would be at the medical residential site day and night with no opportunity for academics or communication with the outside world.
