Caring Club Introducing United Way's Caring Club® donor affinity program. This program was created as a benefit for our loyal donors throughout the Greater New Bedford area. Caring Club members will enjoy special discounts from area retailers as a token of our appreciation for helping to build a stronger community. Some specifics about the Caring Club® program:
- Selected retailers are asked to participate in this donor recognition program by providing a fixed discount for merchandise/services to Caring Club members.
- Eligibility for donors to join the Caring Club is an undesignated annual contribution of $156 ($3 per week) or more and by providing your home and email addresses.
- Caring Club membership card and number is valid for a one-year period.
- Qualified contributions after August 1, 2006 will be eligible to receive a Caring Club card. Cards will be mailed during the 1st Quarter of 2007 at the conclusion of United Way’s campaign.
Become a United Way Caring Club® Retailer
As a Caring Club retailer, you have an opportunity to attract new customers and increase visibility as well as help build a stronger community. Best of all, it costs nothing but the discount you offer.
Last year, 20,000 United Way donors would have qualified to be members of the Caring Club based on their giving levels. As we launch this exciting new program, we hope to significantly increase that number this year.
Benefits
- ”Free” marketing during presentations made to over 2 million people in over 2,500 local companies in New England. As a participating retailer, you will be featured in campaign marketing materials.
- Build relationships with other Caring Club retailers and members, gaining new business throughout the year.
- Public recognition will be given to your company when appropriate at United Way events, in the media and in United Way publications.
- Listings on www.unitedwayofgnb.org, including a link back to your web site.
- Signage will be provided to display showing your support as a Caring Club retailer.
- Founding retailers of the Caring Club program will receive three complimentary memberships for participating.

As a Caring Club member, you are given special discounts from many area businesses who recognize these contributions that make our community stronger. Qualified contributors during United Way’s 2006-07 campaign will be eligible to receive a Caring Club card. Cards will be mailed during the 1st Quarter of 2007.
The amount deductible for federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess of the money contributed over the fair market value of the goods/services received in exchange for this contribution. The fair market value of the Caring Club card is $25. You may wish to consult your tax advisor with regard to your personal tax situation.
